Is He a Shape Shifter?
The prevailing logic has it that women are much more complicated than men, but when it comes to shape shifters, you can throw logic right out the window! They’re unpredictable by their very nature, so you might have a really hard time figuring out if that new hot guy you’ve been dating has a big surprise for you under those tight jeans he looks so good in…for instance, a tail!
Here’s 5 sure-fire ways you can tell if your man is a shape shifter:
1. Does he purr, growl or claw when you scratch his back?
Granted, plenty of guys make strange noises, but give your man a nice, long back scratch after dinner and see what he does. If he falls asleep: human. If he purrs, growls, howls or tears holes in your dress with his suddenly sharp fingernails as he throws you over his shoulder and heads for the bedroom: shifter. (And all around win-win.)
2. Does he really, really, REALLY like his meat cooked rare?
This might seem obvious, but only humans like their meat cooked. If he’s a werepanther, werewolf, weretiger or any other kind of were, his preference will be all raw, all the time. He’ll probably be trying to hide it, though, so invite him over for a home-cooked meal, then serve steak tartare with a lamb chop so rare it’s still moving, and see how fast he pounces.
3. Can he find you in a crowd by your scent alone?
A shifter’s sense of smell is so keen it can find a single drop of blood on a football field. A human male can usually only sniff out three things: beer, pizza and an easy woman. If your man can sense your presence, mood or state of mind without you saying a word, you might have a shifter on your hands. Hint: Skip the perfume, shifters like the smell of your skin much better.
4. Is he nocturnal?
Does he describe himself as a night owl? Does he work the graveyard shift? Is he ready to party into the wee hours of the dawn while you’re struggling to keep your eyes open? If so, he might be a creature of the night, born and bred for darkness. Don’t worry, though, nocturnal creatures like to sleep during the day so you can power nap with him during your lunch hour. Or use the bed for something equally…relaxing.
5. Are other animals afraid of him?
Women typically love it when their dog (or cat) takes a shine to their new man. But if Spot or Fluffy absolutely loathes your guy and acts like Cujo or that cat from Pet Sematary when he’s around, it might mean you’re dealing with something wilder than you thought. You might have a real-live Alpha on your hands! Don’t panic, though, you can turn that mountain lion into a pussy cat with something no shifter can resist: You. Smile, be sweet, put on those sexy new heels you just bought and watch that wild thing be tamed.

J.T. Geissinger’s debut novel, Shadow’s Edge, was an Amazon US and UK #1 bestselling fantasy romance, voted a Top Pick by Night Owl Reviews and praised for its blend of “danger, romance, and chemistry.” Now Edge of Oblivion reunites readers with the Ikati, a race of beautiful, savage shape-shifters who live hidden from the everyday world, the rebel within their ranks who will risk everything for a chance at freedom, and the brooding assassin who might end her life…or lay claim to her soul.
(Night Prowler #2)
In a dark underground cell, Morgan Montgomery waits to die. A member of the Ikati, an ancient tribe of shape-shifters, Morgan stands convicted of treason. And Ikati law clearly spells out her fate: death to all who dare betray.
But there is a glimmer of hope. Thanks to her friendship with Jenna, the new queen of the Ikati, Morgan has one last chance to prove her loyalty. She must discover and infiltrate the headquarters of the Expurgari, the Ikati’s ancient enemy, so they can be destroyed once and for all. The catch? She has only a fortnight to complete her mission and will be accompanied by Xander Luna, the tribe’s most feared enforcer. If Morgan fails, her life is forfeit. Because Xander is as lethal as he is loyal, and no one—not even this beautiful, passionate renegade—will distract him from his mission. But as the pair races across Europe into the heart of Italy, the attraction blooming between them becomes undeniable. Suddenly more than justice is at stake: so is love.
Sensual, thrilling, and action-packed, Edge of Oblivion will enthrall readers with nail-biting suspense and heart-pounding passion.

Read here an excerpt from Edge of Oblivion by J.T. Geissinger
Caught on one of the heels of her shoes, the hem of her dress tangled beneath her feet. The delicate fabric gave way with a soft ripping noise and she pitched forward, unable to throw her arms out for balance because they were cuffed tight behind her back. She fell to her knees on the cold marble floor with a bone-crunching jolt that startled a pained gasp from her lips, but just before she fell flat on her face, something stopped her.
A pair of hands. Strong and warm at her shoulders.
She was caught and steadied, pushed gently back to her knees where she rocked, finding her balance. Then she lifted her head and looked up—
—into a pair of eyes, brilliant amber rimmed in kohl, that stared out from a sun-darkened face of such cold, savage beauty it sent a thrill of pure fear humming along every nerve. Adrenaline lashed through her body, primitive and chemical, and abruptly awoke the animal inside that bristled and hissed and screamed danger! at the top of its lungs.
He was huge—tall and thickly muscled, far larger than any of her lithe, sinewy kin—and had shoulders so wide she crouched in a pool of thrown shadows at his feet. His black hair, tipped on his wide forehead to a widow’s peak, was cropped close to his head. His clothes were black as well, simple and form-fitting, made for ease of movement. On his back was a pair of crossed swords, sheathed in leather scabbards. On his belt and boots were more weapons, gleaming wicked in the light.
But all this paled in comparison to the more imminent threat of his eerie, amber eyes.
They fixed on hers, unblinking, unfeeling, and she realized with another jolt that this man staring back at her in absolute stillness with that beautiful face and those scorching, fire-lit eyes wasn’t anything she’d ever seen before. He was alive, his body was alive, but behind that mask of perfection, there wasn’t a shred of humanity or mercy or kindness or feeling. There was nothing. He was dead.
“Xander,” said a voice from her right. Leander’s, she supposed, aware on a molecular level of her thundering heart, her frozen muscles, the stranger’s gaze that had dropped to the pulse beating wildly in the hollow of her neck. His nostrils flared with an inhalation, and for one wild, horrified moment, she thought he might lean down and tear out her throat with his teeth.
But he didn’t. He only lifted that piercing gaze back to hers and, in a motion of fluid, predatory grace, drew her to her feet. He released her and stepped back, never blinking, his attention never wavering, those piercing dead eyes never leaving her face.
“Xander,” Leander said again. “This is Morgan. Your flight for Rome leaves at one o’clock.”
